Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about your IRS problem?
We have answers.

How much does tax resolution cost?
Fees vary depending on the complexity of your case and the resolution strategy required. We work on a flat fixed fee basis, so you will know exactly what it costs upfront with no surprises. We will walk through all of this during your free consultation.

Do I have to talk to the IRS myself?
Generally, no. Our clients typically never meet or speak directly with the IRS. We handle all communication on your behalf.

What happens during the free consultation?
We review your situation, explain your options, and give you a clear picture of what resolution could look like for you including what it would cost. There is no obligation and no pressure.

Can you really settle my tax debt for less than I owe?
In some cases, yes. An Offer in Compromise allows qualifying taxpayers to settle their debt for less than the full amount owed. Not everyone qualifies, but we will tell you honestly whether it is an option after reviewing your case.

I haven't filed taxes in years. Can you still help me?
Yes. We help clients with unfiled tax returns and can often reduce the taxes and penalties owed by getting those returns filed correctly.

The IRS is garnishing my wages. What can I do?
Contact us immediately. Wage garnishments can often be stopped or removed once representation is in place. The sooner you reach out, the faster we can act.

My bank account was levied. Is it too late to get help?
It is not too late. We work to pursue the removal of bank levies and can take steps to prevent further collection activity while your case is being resolved.

I got an IRS notice and I don't understand it. What should I do?
Do not ignore it. IRS notices have deadlines that can affect your rights. Call us and we will review the notice and explain exactly what it means and what your options are.

Do you handle NC Department of Revenue problems too?
Yes. We represent clients before the NC DOR and other state taxing authorities, not just the IRS.

My spouse handled our taxes and I had no idea there was a problem. Am I responsible?
You may not be. Innocent Spouse Defense is designed to protect people in exactly this situation. We can review your case and determine if you qualify for relief.

What if I can't afford to pay what I owe?
There are several options that may apply including payment plans, penalty abatement, an Offer in Compromise, or Currently Not Collectible status. The right path depends on your specific financial situation, which is why the free consultation matters.

How long does tax resolution take?
It depends on the complexity of the case and the type of resolution pursued. Simple payment plans can be established relatively quickly while an Offer in Compromise can take longer. We will give you realistic timelines during your consultation.

Is my information kept confidential?
Absolutely. Everything you share with us is completely confidential. We are a licensed CPA firm held to strict professional and ethical standards.
